I grew up in upstate New York. A visit home is always entertaining, no matter what our plans.
It’s nice to go out and visit some of the animals in the barn and see what kind of shenanigans they’ve been up to.
My parents have a bunch of alpacas. They’re very funny animals, a few that were born on the farm are very friendly and love to have their necks scratched.
Alpacas have incredibly soft fiber, I love knitting and weaving with yarn made from their coats.
My parents own a Christmas tree farm and open it up for u-cut and pre cut trees each fall between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My parents have a slew of interesting cats that have markings similar to a leopard. They’re really beautiful. Each one has it’s own unique personality. Aja always needs to know what’s going on and loves to jump up on the back of the chair you’re sitting on and scare the hell out of you.
Aja’s dad, Gibs, is the most relaxed cat I’ve ever met. It’s not uncommon to find him sleeping like this.
There’s a few great spots to have massive bonfires in the back yard. It was great to hang out, have a drink and catch up with old friends the old fashioned way: sans cell phones.
