I wanted to give my bridesmaids survival kits for our wedding day, but I wanted to give it to them in something that they wouldn’t throw in the back of a closet after the wedding. We are all very active, so I put everything in personalized Nalgene bottles instead.
You can find Nalgene bottles in tons of colors! I recommend the wide mouth bottle to fit everything easier. Head to the travel section of your favorite drug store, Target or Wal-Mart to stock up on useful minis to fill your bottles with.
A few suggestions:
-safety pins (I’ve needed these for every wedding I’ve been in, I highly recommend!)
I gave the bottles to the girls at my bachelorette weekend. Since we spent the weekend at the beach, I figured we’d all be using them all weekend, so I wanted to give them a separate linen drawstring bag to hold everything once it was all taken out of the bottle.
I designed our wedding logo and had a custom leather embossing die made. I used it to emboss some natural veg tanned leather and cut out the logos by hand. We used the stamp for our wedding favors and my bridesmaid shirts too, so it was put to good use.
I stitched the logos onto each bag by hand with four tack stitches on each corner (the same way I sew all of my logos on to the pieces I make and sell in my Etsy shop).
I used my Cricut vinyl cutting machine to cut out vinyl stickers with each of my bridesmaids initials on them (if you want to make these personalized stickers but don’t have a Cricut, send me a message and I can make some for you!).
A trick a friend taught me to get the stickers straight is to fill the container with water up to where you want the top of the sticker to sit. The water will create a natural straight line for you to follow when lining up the sticker (genius!).
Use a credit card or the scraper that comes with your Cricut and press and drag it across the surface of the sticker to release the sticker from the transfer paper. Peel the back of the transfer paper off carefully. If the sticker doesn’t release, try going over it with the credit card a few more times in varying directions.
Once the sticker is smooth against the bottle, use the credit card again and drag it across the bottle’s surface to adhere the sticker. The more directions you drag the credit cards edge, the better the sticker will stick.
Fill your Nalgene with travel size emergency items you or your girls might need on the day of the wedding. I folded the linen bag up and placed it on top of everything, so it was easy to pull out first when opening the bottle.
