I etched a few wine glasses as part of a Bridal shower gift for my best friend’s wedding. It’s much easier than it sounds!
You will need:
-Cheap paint brushes
-Glass piece to etch
-Stickers in the font or shape you like (try to use stickers that have a shiny coating to them so they resist the etching paste a little better)
Make sure your glass surface is clean and dry. Peel off the border around the sticker and place it carefully onto the glass. Make sure all edges are smooth so the etching paste doesn’t get under the sticker.
Using your paint brush, apply a very thick coat of etching paste to the area you want etched. Be careful not to get any etching paste outside of your desired etching area. If you do, use a Q-Tip to wipe it off with a little soap and water.
Let etching cream sit undisturbed for 10 minutes (the directions say 5-10 minutes, but I found leaving it on closer to 15 minutes or so was more effective). You can always use a Q-Tip to wipe off a corner of your etching to see how deep it has etched. If it isn’t as deep as you’d like, just apply a little more and wait a little longer.
