Mercury glass can get expensive very quickly if you’re looking to make a statement with a lot of pieces (they start around $3 each). But you can easily do them yourself for much less.
You will need:
-glass votive or container of your choice
-spray water bottle
-Krylon Looking Glass spray paint
Cover your work area and make sure you have proper ventilation. Mist the inside of your container lightly enough so the water beads up on the walls. Immediately afterwards, spray the inside of the container with the Looking Glass spray paint. Let dry.
Once it looks like the paint has dried, take a paper towel and dab the inside of the container to soak up any excess water. Don’t worry if you smear some of the paint.
Repeat the above steps until you’ve achieved the desired look. I did 3-5 coats.
If you’re worried about the paint chipping, you can spray a clear coat over top of the silver paint, but it’s not necessary.
That’s it! The Looking Glass spray paint isn’t cheap but you can use a coupon, and a little goes a long way!
